Here in Delco, the 1700s weren’t all cobblestone streets and quill pens like in Philadelphia. The daily work of a rural Pennsylvania farmer was as much the source of American resourcefulness, ingenuity and perseverance as the Declaration of Independence. These were the people who were determined to see the land of the free succeed, fought to put food on the colonists’ tables and struggled to pay King George’s taxes.
The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation (located within Ridley Creek State Park) is an 18th century working Pennsylvania farm just the like the ones back then. A visit here isn’t only educational, but interactive too. And besides, it gives a whole new meaning to “farm to table.”
