Delaware County Historical Society (DCHS),  housed in the historic (circa. 1814), 21,000 square foot former National Bank building, is located in Chester, Delaware County, next door to City Hall. As the preeminent historical society of Delaware County, it represents the collective history of the entire county. Delaware County Historical Society remains true to its original mission from 1895, “To collect, protect and preserve the history and culture of Delaware County and make it accessible through strong educational outreach.”

ll ages, from young children, to seniors, will enjoy a visit to Delaware County Historical Society, which features a Research Library, Museum Gallery, Children’s Education Center and several period themed rooms filled with furniture from as early as the 17th century.  For more of DCHS’s furniture please see the Grange Estate which uses much of our furniture (on loan) to stage the house.

Delaware County Historical Society is open to the public, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 4pm, Thursday from 10am to 6:30pm and the 2nd Saturday of the month from 10am to 2pm. Private appointments and group tours are available upon request. Visits are free, with donations graciously accepted.
