It’s baaa-aaack! A Brandywine Christmas opens at the world famous Brandywine Museum of Art.
Now through January 5th, a Brandywine Christmas offers visitors of all ages a spectacular holiday experience, with the region’s greatest model train display, along with Christmas trees decorated for the season with Critter ornaments made by our talented volunteers.
The month-long celebration starts with a Pajama Party and a Tour of the Museum’s gorgeously decorated holiday trees!
Children are invited to wear their pajamas as they delight in the tale of The Polar Express and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies from 7 to 8 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for guests to visit the Brandywine Railroad and enjoy the holiday tree displays.
Bring the family and let the museum transport you to a magical world!
The remarkable Brandywine Railroad O-gauge model train display features trains running on nearly 2,000 feet of track and includes more than 1,000 pieces, including locomotives, passenger and freight trains, and trolleys. The trains chug through a model of America… through a small town…through farmland, past factories and even into a carnival.
Run, Don‘t Walk to the Annual Critter Sale Thursday, Friday, and Saturday December 5th through the 8th!
Santa’s elves have nothing on the museum’s amazing Critter volunteers who have been creating hand-made ornaments all year long with rare imagination and talent. Longtime favorites have been made, as well as many new creations. These mission-aligned, handcrafted and environmentally friendly ornaments always make distinctive gifts. Most importantly, they benefit the Volunteers’ Purchase Fund and Art Education & Programming! The sale is open December 5th, from 4:30 to 8pm, and December 6th through the 8th, from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Prices typically range from $5 to $35, with specialty items from $50 to $250.
Most of us have never had breakfast on a Train – but on December 7th & 14th you can have Breakfast with the Trains!
Experience an exclusive, behind-the-scenes visit to the train display. Discover how the extensive layout is created and the complicated multitasking it takes to keep everything running. This before-hours event includes a private viewing of the trains in action with Brandywine Railroad engineers, special activities for the youngest train fans, and a continental breakfast (including assorted pastries, yogurt, granola, fruit, coffee, milk and juice) in the Museum’s Millstone Café. Children will receive a Brandywine Railroad souvenir; ages 3 and older, accompanied by an adult, are welcome.
Sign up for their annual Children’s Christmas Party, December 11th from 6-8pm
