May Days for Family Fun!

May 2019

Being in the heart of America’s Garden Capital, we can safely say that our May flowers provide a scent-sational reason for families to get outside and play!

Do a little horsing around just outside Delaware County lines at the
Devon Horse Show and Country Fair, 8am to 10pm, May 23rd through June 2nd.  This is one of the most famous equestrian shows in the East, and is both the oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed horse competition in the United States. There are exciting riding competitions and demonstrations every day – and every night the Country Fair midway becomes ‘family central’ for food, souvenirs, refreshments, art shows, cool exhibits and more. Gates open daily at 8 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.   The Country Fair area opens at 10 a.m and Family Days are Thursday, May 23rd & Tuesday, May 28th, when there will be specials on Food, Souvenirs and the Midway.

May at Linvilla Orchards is a cornucopia of food, fruit, and fun! Starting with their Spring Food Truck Frenzy, Saturday May 4, 2019 (Rain date Sunday May 5) 11am – 5pm. In addition to delicious treats from the trucks there will be live music, hayrides, pony rides, face painting, train rides and more!  Or bring your fishing rod. Linvilla’s Orchard Lake was constructed to provide irrigation water for some of their crops — and to make fishing available. While trout fishing season is winding down, later this month the action switches to Hybrid Striped Bass, Crappies, Bluegill and Catfish. By the end of the month you can Pick Your Own Strawberries! Plus there are barnyard animals to visit, hayrides, pony rides and face painting adds an artistic aspect to every visit!

Let’s face it, everyone’s a little bit ‘mad’ about Alice in Wonderland! This production was written specifically for the Media Theatre and takes the stage every Sunday at Noon through May 26th. A rollicking, humorous, and musical adventure, it is based on Lewis Carroll’s classic tale where Alice follows the White Rabbit and falls into a strange place where flowers sing and a wicked Queen of Hearts plays croquet in a very odd way.  Audience participation is encouraged. A perfect hour for families with children 4 and older. C
