Called one of North America's Most Beautiful Secret Gardens
Called one of North America’s most Beautiful Secret Gardens, Chanticleer Opens March 27th.
The Main Line is famous around the world, and has been since the early 1900’s when it first became the summer playground of Philadelphia’s richest families. They built lavish estates that offered them a beautiful country setting, as well as easy access to the city. Chanticleer is the last remaining Main Line Estate that is still open to the public. It was the home of Christine and Adolph Rosengarten, Sr. who headed Rosengarten and Sons Pharmaceutical Company which would eventually become part of Merck & Company in the 1920s.
Chanticleer is a 35-acre natural garden filled with gorgeous trees, plants and flowers. It has been called “the most romantic, imaginative, and exciting public garden in America” — and National Geographic’s Traveler Magazine named it “One of North American’s most beautiful Secret Gardens.”
Pictured at the top of the story is the Ruin Garden, but you’ll also want to explore the Asian Woods, Pond Garden, Tennis Court Garden, Bell’s Run Creek, the Cut Flower Garden, Teacup Garden, and the Orchard. Chanticleer Gardens Website
