Arts & Crafts, Theater Shows & Indoor Mini-Golf

February 2020

In addition to hosting amazing art exhibits, The Wayne Art Center features a variety of Valentine oriented single day art classes and crafting projects for children and families.

February 8th, 1 to 3pm – Make a Valentine Pal!

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, you’ll head to the sewing studio to create adorable Mini Pocket Pals! You will make two clothespin dolls, each wearing adorable felt hats. You will then create a sweet pocket ‘home’ for your twins. Get creative while learning sewing, gluing, and felting skills! $35

February 14th, 10 to 11am – Valentine Storytime & A Special Art Project

It’s Valentine Storytime! Bring all your children ages 3 to 9 for a ‘lovable’ Story and Art experience featuring a special reading of “Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse!” by Laura Numeroff. Then you and your children will partake in a fun art project about the book! $25 per family.

February 22th, 1 to 3pm – Make A Tiny Lantern Home! (pictured at the top)

Love starts at home, so sign up your little ones aged 7 and older to make a miniature Tiny Lantern Home. Each child receives a candle lantern to transform into his very own fairy home. Together you’ll create a little room, adding fabric, rugs, curtains, and furniture. PLUS you’ll pick a little animal that will live inside! This workshop allows you to create an adorable home for a little animal friend. $45

Theatre Fun with Elephants, Piggies, and a Princess

Opening February 29th, The Players Club of Swarthmore kicks off a rollicking musical experience, ripped from the pages of Mo Willems’ (Sesame Street fame) beloved, award-winning, best-selling children’s books. In Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” an elephant named Gerald and a pig named Piggie are best, best, “bestus” friends, but Gerald worries that something could go wrong that would end their friendship.

But Piggie isn’t worried because she and Gerald are invited to a party hosted by the Squirrelles, a singing group of squirrels who love to have a good time. (Not to be confused with the actual Shirelles, the cool 60’s girl group whose hits included “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and “Momma Said” 😉 Adults $10, Children 3-11 $8. Take the Family to Media Theatre’s Heartwarming Remake of ‘The Princess and the Pea’

Every Sunday at noon, through March 1st, a loveable Princess has undergone a fabulous multiple makeover!

Ben Kapilow, The Media Theatre’s Resident Music Director, has written new music and has ‘rebooted’ the story in an energetic, fun, and funny production where several wanna-be Princesses try to get the attention of a young Prince. Lessons include Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover and How To Make Friends. Zoe Nesbitt, who recently played the title role in “Matilda: The Musical”, plays the lead Princess Britney, while Alex Hamel (Michael in “Elf: The Musical”) takes on the role of The Prince.
