Visit a Vineyard!

July 2019

Did you know that PA ranks 7th in the nation for number of wineries?  We have more than 200 wineries that produce nearly two million gallons of wine per year.  The Philadelphia region is especially ideal for producing wine because of our temperate climate, gently rolling hills and large bodies of water which create warmer soil that nurtures a long growing season. Our soil is also flecked with limestone and gravel, which enhances the fertility of many types of grapes. In Delaware County we have two beautiful wineries and both are unique in history and design:

Penns Woods Winery is family-run, with over 40 years of experience in the business. Winemaker Gino Razzi, and his daughter Carley Mack produce award winning wines from PA-grown grapes and their wines can be found in restaurants throughout Philly and its suburbs. The tasting room in Chadds Ford provides an all-around vineyard experience, hosting live music, food & wine pairings, and other exciting events each weekend.  Summer fun also includes Yoga Classes, an Auto Show, and more.

Grace Winery and the Inn at Grace Winery sit on 50 acres in Glen Mills, in the heart of our Brandywine Valley.  It is a vineyard, winery, and inn that hosts overnight guests in its Manor House and cottages and welcomes visitors into a renovated 1750 bank barn  turned into a winery, tasting room and event space.  The original Quaker farmhouse dates to 1734, and the Inn’s history includes housing the British after the Battle of the Brandywine, being a stop on the Underground Railroad, and serving as a Civil War infirmary.
