Didn’t get enough of our must-try picks in “Round 1”? Then feast upon this list! There’s a lot of comfort foods on this list, plus a mouth-watering feast from a Delco favorite.
Can you get much more Delco than a warm, soft pretzel? If you think Philly’s got a lock on those, then you’ve not been to this spot. It actually has regulars, many of whom go there every day. Yes, every day! We like ours with just mustard — why mess with perfection? Call ahead for big orders, and ask about wholesale orders! Open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
500 E. Providence Rd., Suite 9, Aldan, (610) 259-9193.
Paddy “Himself” came from Castlewellan, County Down, so he knows comfort food — and, he knows shepherd’s pie! We’d give away the recipe, but that just wouldn’t be fair; you have to taste it to appreciate the authenticity of this meat “pie” topped with mashed potatoes. Open Monday through Thursday from 2 to 11 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from noon to 11 p.m.
A lot of Brussels sprouts recipes include bacon — we’re not judging, we’ve had our share! But when you want a full-flavored vegan alternative, then turn to this charming small-plates restaurant. Here, Brussels sprouts are simply graced with black garlic and cilantro, and they are absolutely delicious. That’s what you can expect when the mission is to “serve delicious, affordable food that guests will want to return to, week after week.” Mission accomplished! Open Wednesday through Friday from noon to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Yes, this is the famous diner from “Silver Linings Playbook.” What really makes it special, though, is that you can get breakfast all day. Why the picture of sweet treats, then? This is Delco, where we do what we wanna do! And if we want a platter of desserts to share (or, not) for breakfast, then that’s what we’ll have. You can choose the bacon and eggs! Remember to ask about the specials. No current social media or website. Open 24 hours, seven days a week.
95 E. Township Line Rd. (Rt. 1), Upper Darby; (610) 789-6057.
A feast for the eyes and the stomach, Margaret Kuo’s Media and Wayne will wow you with its Royal Peking Duck presentation. It’s a young fresh Long island duck roasted in a custom-built pit so its succulent; then, it’s served with homemade spring pancakes and all the authentic trimmings. Hours vary, so check each location for the latest.

This isn’t a cinnamon roll or a coffee roll — it’s a two-fisted grilled hot buttered sticky bun … grilled.Buttered. It’s more than filling, decadent and something that has to go on your bucket list if you’ve not already had one. Bonus: You can revisit that bucket list item often! Open Tuesday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.; closed Sunday and Monday.
