More Delco Cheesesteak Wars: Round 4

Is this the knockout round? After Rounds 1, 2 and 3? Nah, we doubt it, because if we know one thing about Delco cheesesteak joints, it’s that they’re going to continue to level up — and, that more will dot the world’s best cheesesteak county as time goes by.

The best part? We all will be frequenting our local spots, and venturing out for a cheesesteak war tour, now and again. Eat up, Delco!

Johnny Paisano’s

Who could disagree with their motto: “Taste the difference homemade makes.” How about these menu all-stars? The South Philly steak sandwich with classic beef steak or chicken breast; the Buffalo chicken cheesesteak with American and blue cheese; and the Tuff Guy with capicola, cherry peppers, fried onions and provolone. Dine-in or take out! Open Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

226 Baltimore Pike, Springfield, (610) 690-0150.

Michael’s Sandwich Shop

They’ve been perfecting this menu since 1977, and it shows, with mini, small and large cheesesteak options. Want a good, old-fashioned cheesesteak with rib-eye on an Italian steak roll? Done. Not a meat eater? Feast on freshly cut chicken breast, sliced thin and finished in a secret marinade. Watching calories? Get ‘em as a wrap. Eat in or take out! Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

1300 Jefferson Ave., Woodlyn, (484) 361-9305.

Wolf’s Superior Sandwiches

The Delco spirit and fight is strong here, as the restaurant battled back from a summer 2022 fire. Its cheesesteak menu is still smokin’ hot, though! We can’t decide between the pizza steak, or the way they sneak the heart of a cheesesteak into specialty sandwiches, strombolis and more. How about this: the cheesesteak dog featuring chopped steak, Cooper sharp cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha ketchup. Open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

4417 Pennell Rd., Aston, (484) 480-3182.

Providence Pizzeria Co.

Yeah, we know it’s a pizza shop, but it really is so much more, including a must-try place for cheesesteaks. Those with dairy allergies will appreciate the no-cheese chicken steak and steak sandwich. For the rest, dig into the pizza steak that’s topped with the restaurant’s authentic pizza sauce and mozzarella. Or, consider a cheesesteak egg roll! Ask about subbing chicken, too! Open Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.

5003 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, (610) 325-5200
