At the beginning of the 20th century, American architect Will Price purchased 80 acres of land in Rose Valley. His goal was to establish a utopian community committed to the arts and craft movement’s vision of “the art that is life.” In 1922, noted New York director Jasper Deeter fell in love with Price’s community and formed the Hedgerow Theatre – soon to become known as the nation’s seminal repertory theater.  Nearly a century later, Hedgerow continues to be the artistic center of a decidedly 21st-century community with a year-round calendar of diverse performances, classes and workshops for community members, and outreach programs to local schools.
