On September 11, 1777, the largest battle of the American Revolution unfolded in the fields, farms, and homesteads along the Brandywine River. Today, this hallowed ground is protected by more than 500 contiguous acres and is the site of re-enactments, historical tours, school field trips and, most importantly, a memorial to the soldiers who sacrificed everything for a country yet to be born.
