Back before cars filled the roads from Delco to Philly, there were trains. On the Pennsylvania Railroad line that traveled from Philly out to Newtown Square, there were as many as 13 trains a day, filled with everything from milk to mail, and from horses to people. Those trains weren’t only a mode of transportation; they were the seeds of growth for communities now known as Upper Darby, Haverford, Marple, Radnor, and – the end of the line – Newtown Square. Today, the Newtown Square Railroad Museum remembers this important part of Delco history and is a great way to “stop, look, and listen” downs the tracks at our past.
