You’ve heard about the “passion” of Philly sports fans, right? Well, a lot of them live here in Delco. We have a love for athletes – especially locally grown ones – that runs deep.
The Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum, located in the Radnor Township Municipal building, celebrates our local sports figures who achieved success at an elite level. In June, the museum unveiled its latest attraction: a statue of Radnor Township native Emlen Tunnell, the first African American inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Tunnell wasn’t the only Delco athlete to achieve success in sports; our athletes have touched just about every sport there is: football, baseball, tennis, swimming, lacrosse, basketball, field hockey…even race car driving. Not bad for a county covering just 191 square miles.
